Drawing Room Rocks – “The Best View in New South Wales”

After a 7km (5 mile) drive up a mountain pass from the tourist town of Berry, NSW you arrive at the trailhead for the Drawing Room Rocks Bushwalk. From here, is is a 2km uphill (Grade 4) hike to the Drawing Room Rocks. The rocks got this name because they look kind of like the tables and chairs one would put in their Drawing Room (for Americans, the Foyer) back in the olden days. The unique formations were caused by erosion of the sandstone over millions of years.

Beyond the rock formations at the top, you’re also treated to spectacular views of the surrounding area. Miles and miles of cattle paddocks, the town of Berry, the Pacific Ocean, and several mountains are all visible in the distance.

There are some warning signs strongly advising against going close to the cliff edges…but no signs actually stopping you. For a bit of a thrill, you are able to get dangerously close to the cliff edges if you dare (I did).

Enjoy this video of the hike and amazing view!
