The Walleye are wandering on! Several more posts from our month in New South Wales are still upcoming, but as I type this we’re officially in the second country on our journey. Followers of our Instagram likely already know where we are, by the way – others will have to stay tuned!
We can’t just leave Australia without giving a shoutout to our amazing hosts Andy and Michele. My (Clint’s) family has known theirs for over 20 years; initially becoming friends when Andy was on a multi-year work assignment in Ohio (specifically, the Northstar BHP steel mill in Delta) and maintaining the friendship even after they moved out of the US; vacationing together several times over the years – including a full-family trip to Key West for Mom’s 50th birthday.
Even considering the decades-long family friendship, we were blown away by the hospitality received over the past few weeks. We saw more New South Wales hotspots in one month than many lifelong residents (again – stay tuned for more Australia content to come), got to explore some on our own using their car, and overall were made to feel completely “at home” during our stay. We even became temporary regulars at the Jamberoo Bowling Club – one week Kaitlin won the meat raffle!
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much to Andy and Michele for being such incredible hosts. Additional thanks to Cam, Bill, Susan, Colleen, and Jeff (and Django!) for making us feel like part of the family. We will never forget our time in Jamberoo!
