Just a short drive from the famous Hooker Valley Trail you’ll find the carpark and trailhead for the Tasman Lake Trails. Several shorter walks can be combined for a full day of hiking from the same starting point. So that’s what we did!
Enjoy this video of hiking through the native alpine environment to several lookout points.
First, one set of trails takes you to the end of Lake Tasman, up a hill for a view of Tasman Glacier, and then to a viewpoint for the Tasman River.
Next, the second set of trails leads to the Blue Lakes (though we’d say they’re definitely more green) and up a big set of stairs to a high lookout with panoramic views of Tasman Lake & Glacier.
Definitely worth your time to make the stop while visiting Mt. Cook Aoraki!
