Another country, another set of beers to explore! Singapore was a bit of a mixture on the beer front – while they do have their “standard” beers throughout the country (most often seen is Tiger), there is also a pretty lively craft brewing scene which was a pleasant surprise!
Craft brewing is actually having a multi-year moment throughout Southeast Asia – indeed, the reason we met up with Clint’s childhood friend Jason in Singapore was his involvement as a judge for the 2022 Asia Beer Championship.
So – while in Singapore we enjoyed the variety. We had some standard Tigers / Sapporos against incredible backdrops (and one in a Supertree):
Clint tried some “extra strong” beers we hadn’t heard of from the 7-11 (review: would not recommend):
We made it to a few local craft breweries to sample the goods:
And we even got to share some (many) beers with both old friends and new – including towers of Tiger!
As one final kicker – Jason told us he had “a few extra” beers from his brewery in the Philippines left over from the competition he was judging, so we stopped at his hotel to pick them up. Little did we know “a few” meant “an entire cooler full.” Every one of these beers was a different variety:
Packed, of course, in a styrofoam cooler with hotel ice because ours didn’t have a fridge.
Clint did as much as he could on these during our last few days in Singapore, but ultimately had to pass along about 8-10 to our new friends YY and Nicole on our last night out!
