One of the most well-known elements of Thailand’s southern Islands are the monthly full moon parties. These take place, as you’d expect, on the night of the full moon.
During our visit we traveled to the island of Koh Phangan, and stayed at a hotel right on the most famous full-moon party beach: Haad Rin. This was the most we’ve paid so far for lodging on our trip; however all said and done it was 100% worth it.
The video begins just after nightfall when the party starts, with scenes continuing until we tapped out at around 4AM. We’ll note the party was still raging at this point (it continues until dawn). Fire dancers, liquor buckets, and dancing non-stop. It also rained for a good portion of the night, but that didn’t stop things at all.
We thought these may have been dampened by COVID, but that was not the case. Our guess is there were about 5-10,000 people on the beach all night.
If you’re at all into a good party, making it to Koh Phangan for a Full Moon Party should definitely be an item on your bucket list!
