We continued the trend of drinking beer in every country on our trip – 60 days in New Zealand gave us a lot of time to sample the product!
In addition to its famous wine-growing regions, New Zealand is also home to a climate very well-suited to growing hops. As a result, the country is packed top-to-bottom with breweries of all sizes.
We visited some of the country’s largest breweries (Emerson’s & Speight’s in Dunedin, and Monteith’s in Greymouth – Tui missed out on our visit by being closed on a Tuesday). Even got a new hoodie at Monteith’s!
We also got a chance to see several of the country’s small-time breweries up close. Some mid-sized, some very tiny, some in larger cities (though in New Zealand that’s a relative statement) and some in the smallest towns:
We even enjoyed a beer (and cider) specially brewed at the Green Dragon Inn in Hobbiton!
While the beers were great on their own, they were made all the better by getting to enjoy them against the countless beautiful backdrops of New Zealand. Cheers!
