Feeding Monkeys by Hand at Iwatayama Park

Posted onMay 17, 2023May 3, 2023 experience, japan, video Comments are off 436 Views

The Arashiyama District in Kyoto, Japan is home to Iwatayama Park, a unique area where hundreds of wild Japanese Snow Monkeys exist peacefully alongside humans.

The monkeys are definitely wild, as many signs around the park will warn. The monkeys are used to the presence of humans, however, and will casually hang out mere inches from you!

While you’re not allowed to bring any outside food into the park, there is a special building where you can buy apple pieces (100 Yen, or $0.75 USD) to hand feed the monkeys through a caged window. Just hold out the food, and a monkey will grab it from your hand!

This was a crazy experience, so we’re showing it to you uncut – enjoy 8 minutes of monkey-feeding action from Japan. Enjoy!
