You can take amazing photographs all over Japan; however Mt. Fuji still deserves special recognition. This mountain – the tallest in Japan, at 3,776 meters (12,388 ft) – stands out like a beacon among much lower surroundings. Up close Fujisan dominates the skyline, but on a clear day the peak is visible as far as 323 km (201 miles) away!
We were fortunate to enjoy one clear day during our visit to Kawaguchiko, and captured some amazing pictures of Mt. Fuji in the background.
We took some selfies (they even have special “selfie stands” you can set your phone inside, very Japan):
And enjoyed some food (plus ice cream) with a spectacular view:
Finally, to make the most of the backdrop we skipped some rocks across Lake Kawaguchiko:
This is truly a magical location on Earth, and a huge check off the bucket list!
