Nanuya Lailai is a remote island – even by Fiji standards – and is also quite small; stretching only 1.4 kilometers (~1 mile) from one end to the other.
During our 11-day stay here, we explored multiple routes of getting from one side (our homestay at Sunrise Lagoon) to the other (Nanuya Island Resort, the Blue Lagoon, and the island’s only bar). We could go over the island direct to the resort, around through a mangrove forest to the blue lagoon beach (only at low tide) or through the rainforest to the same beach.
There are no roads on the island, only footpaths and the beach. We were guided by this helpful hand drawn map at our homestay:
Enjoy this compilation video of the multiple routes, featuring special guests the island dogs!
