Another unmarked trail experience in New South Wales; this time to the famous Figure 8 Rock Pools – a natural wonder in Royal National Park.
This whole hike is amazing. First you trek downhill (over 100m elevation change) from the Garawarra Farm Carpark along a boardwalk to Burning Palms Beach. From here, make your way over, around, and between large rocks along the coast until you get to the Figure 8 Pools. You’ll know you’ve arrived when you see a Figure 8-sized hole full of water in the ground!
This area can actually be quite dangerous during high tide or periods of strong ocean swells, when large waves can break over the ledge and easily wash you into the ocean. Luckily we had near-perfect conditions during our visit!
It was a bit too cold for swimming, do you think that stopped me from jumping in?
