Continuing our adventures in Australia – Booderee National Park is located in Jervis Bay Territory, about 100 miles (181 km, to be exact) south of Sydney. The park is a former nature preserve as well as an important heritage site for the Koori Aboriginal people; transferred back to the Wreck Bay Aboriginal Community in 1995.
Booderee, in the traditional Dhurga language, means “Bay of Plenty” – the name is not an understatement. Wildlife and beautiful scenery abounds – we spent the day walking along the beach, wandering through rainforests, rock-hopping along the coast, and even got up close and personal with some Kangaroos!
We only visited a portion of the park in our day’s visit, spending our time at Greenpatch and Murray Beach. According to the locals, these areas boast the whitest sand in the world – see for yourself!
