The Many Vistas of Prague

Before our visit to Prague – the first stop after leaving Germany – we’d heard high praise of the city’s beauty. However, on arrival we realized we weren’t really fully prepared for the sight.

Prague is, without a doubt, one of the most beautiful cities in the world. The city has been historically significant since at least the 9th century, and was an important cultural and trading center through the middle ages, Renaissance, Industrial Revolution, all the way to the modern age. In fact, the city was actually inhabited as far back as the neolithic era.

Spanning both sides of the Vlatva River, Prague is home to countless incredible works of architecture and art, including the Charles Bridge, Prague Castle, and many many others. Getting up along the banks on either side of the river means you’ll see amazing city views, pretty much from anywhere:

Alternatively, you can buy a ticket up into the city’s clock tower for an aerial view:

Beyond the high-up vantage points, Prague also offers a ton of opportunity for street-level beauty. From walking the streets, to visiting one of the small islands on the Vltava, there’s something new to see at every corner:

And all this is even before you get into any of the countless historical buildings scattered throughout the city. Castles, cathedrals, opera houses, even the inside of small shops can be amazing. Here’s just a small sampling of some of Prague’s interior beauty:

The level of Prague’s beauty can’t be overstated. While the city is definitely “known” to tourists these days (and as a consequence, is no longer a cheap destination and can be packed), this shouldn’t stop anyone from making a visit!
