The Palaces of Seoul, Korea

Gyeonggokgung Palace

Originally built in 1395 during the Joseon Dynasty, this is the largest (and most popular) palace to visit in Seoul. The palace marked the official change of Korea’s capital to Seoul.

After passing a few statues on the way from the nearest train station:

You’re in! We were lucky enough to be in time to see a “changing of the guards” at the palace’s main gate. There were also many people sporting traditional clothing (Hanboks) – you can get into the palaces free if you’re wearing one!
